Starship Child Health is a dedicated paediatric healthcare service and major teaching centre, providing family centred care to children and young people throughout New Zealand and the South Pacific. Starship is a part of Auckland DHB and is the only comprehensive children’s hospital in New Zealand serving a population of approximately 1 million children. Auckland DHB is NZ’s largest public tertiary hospital which has strong ties with University of Auckland and provides extensive teaching and training opportunities.
Our Paediatric Operating Theatres at Starship Child Health provides acute and elective surgical procedures in the paediatric specialties of General, Thoracic, Urology, Endoscopy, Oncology, ORL, Dental, Minor Neuro, Orthopaedics, and Plastics.
Auckland District Health Board (Auckland DHB) is one of the largest tertiary public healthcare provider within New Zealand. We have a large, modern state of the art perioperative department covering various specialities within 5 different areas, each having their own operating theatres and PACU services.
We are looking for experienced Recovery Nurses who have an interest in Paediatrics. We have permanent full time and part time vacancies available in our Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (Recovery)/Pre Op in our paediatric operating theatres at Starship Children’s Health. We also have 12 months fixed term positions available from later in the year.
You will have at least 1 year recent PACU / recovery, surgical or HDU / ICU experience within a large hospital and will either be eligible for or already have registration with the Nursing Council of NZ. You will have a positive attitude, an innovative and adaptable approach to practice, excellent communication skills and a real commitment to working in this area of nursing.
